If you have a new iPhone 3G or recently upgraded your iPhone to the new firmware you may had noticed that you can now add applications specially designed for your iPhone. For me, I was excited to see that Chanel, the fashion house, has an application for the latest release of the iPhone. As you may tell from the application name, the CHANEL - Haute Couture Show F/W 08/09 has video and still images from their fashion show. The application also has Chanel news and a store locator.
You can find the Chanel application from the iTunes App store under the lifestyle category. The Chanel application is available for free and is a stunning example of the types of applications available for the iPhone.
The on/off light switch hasn’t evolved much over the years. The most recent upgrade to the light switch has been the annoying commercials for the clap on/clap off switch. But for those that have it all and still want more, you can now have a gold plated haute designed on/off switch.
Dolce & Gabbana is now lending their name to technology. You can now see DG on blue tooth headsets, so now you can look stylish while you’re talking to your friends and colleagues. Unlike what some might think, this article is not about Hollywood stars are getting Silicone implants. No. This article is about a bunch of new sites that are a remix of popular techie sites such as delicious, digg, and reddit with hollywood gossip sites such as TMZ and Perez Hilton. In Silicon Valley terms these new sites are niche me too sites, in Hollywood terms these might be consider are sequels, in general terms they are bad copy cats. None the less you can digg or bury, vote up or down your favorite entertainment articles at Show Hype, Sugar Loving, Lipstick, and Dotspotter.
Show Hype also looks too familiar to digg.
Sugar loving has no real theme other than it looks like digg except for the hearts that litter the screen.
Lipstick looks like reddit except for that it is pink.
Dotspotter looks more like an online magazine with a plathora of celeberty new, gossip, and articles.
If you like, you can share the couture love and submit and vote for Couture Central on any or all of the above sites.
I am sure you have heard of shows like “Pimp my Ride” and “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition”, but GizModo has reported a $8.5 Million penthouse has been pimped out with the latest high tech gadgets by Intel. That is one open house I would not want to miss! The penthouse is wall to wall stacked with flat screen monitors, computers, projectors, and other hight tech gear.
If you are like me, you like bling and tech gadgets. How about a bling bling MacBook Pro? Before I thought titanium finish on the macs were sweet, Chomputer Choppers can gold plate your MacBook Pro to really set you apart.
The 24 karat gold plating will set you back anywhere from $1200-$1500, almost the price of another MacBook Pro.
Some of you may already have one, some of you may already have dropped it, but many of you still don’t know what the fuss is all about.
Here is a closer look at the iPhone when it was announced in January 10, 2007. See the crowd gather around a iPhone encased in a translucent glass encasing as if it was a relic of the Buddha. Big iPhone features included ‘visual voice mail’, touch dialing, speed dialing, regular dialing, and perhaps even rotary dialing. Phil Schiller, of Apple, is heard on the clip saying that the iPhone ‘the most advance phone ever made’ and the ‘the best ipod ever made.’
Here is the Never Been an iPod ad.
Here is the Calamari ad.
Here is a view from the 5th Avenue New York Apple store as people enter the store to buy the iPhone. Listen to the people cheer as if they had accomplished something, other than waiting for a day or two in line to get one.
I was able to head down the Apple store here in Palo Alto before they went on sale, before you ask, no I wasn’t in line to get one. The line extended from the Apple Store on University Ave circling as far back as Lytton Ave (over 1 block). The atmosphere was very festive, many people were sitting in beach chairs and resting comfortably under their parasols. People were well prepared, fully equipped with pizza, water, and other beverages. The people passed the time listening to their iPod or working on their laptops. People were of all ages, but unfortunately the vast majority of them where men. Some people wore black shirts with the iphone logo and on the back of the shirt it said “I was there 6/29/07″, apparently these shirts were distributed by a company not affiliated with Apple. Many news outlets such as TV, radio, newspapers, and bloggers where present to cover the event line.
If you aren’t tired of all the iPhone press coverage here are some more…
