The Latin Grammy’s are one of the highlights of the year. Every year the Latin Recording Academy takes time to recognize outstanding musicians in the latino community. Just like the regular Grammy’s the
event is filled with non-stop action. Leading up to the Latin Grammy’s there were a series of concerts at street parties and various schools in Miami, Dallas, New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles. Every year, the night before the Latin Grammy Awards, an artist is celebrated for their philanthropic efforts and their contributions to the music community. This year’s award recipient was Juan Gabriel; previous recipients include artists such as: Ricky Martin, Gloria Estefan, Carlos Santana, Juan Guerra, Julio Iglesias, and Gilberto Gil.

It was just announced this afternoon the “Fame Kills Tour” headlined by Kanye West and Lady GaGa has been canceled! This tour was expected to be one of the most successful tours of 2009. Although, no reason was cited for the cancellation, everyone seems to think that the recent negativity caused by Kanye West’s stunt at the MTV VMAs is the caused this tour to fall apart.

What Kanye West did was wrong, and he’s fessed up to his mistake but should Lady GaGa be punished for Kanye’s childish antics? Lady Gaga in her own right has been a non-stop hit-maker this year; unfortunately she aligned herself with the wrong person.

Let’s remember this is not the first time Kanye West has caused controversy at award shows. In the past he has said that George Bush ‘does not care about black people’.

He has also gotten on the stage before when he thought he should have been the recipient. Kanye has blamed his behavior on his mother’s untimely death; however, his mother was alive when most of these incidents occurred.

We appreciate the energy Kanye brings to music, he’s very talented. In the future we hope he will put his frustration into his music.

Vanessa and Nick were in the headlines most recently because of their recent break up after 3 years (Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo just happened to break up around the same time), now we’re hearing Nick and Vanessa are back together. This is deja vu all over again.

If any of you recall, Nick and Jessica went through something very similar. In the spring of 2001, Nick and Jessica broke up for 5 months and reunited post “September 11th”.

February 3rd marks the 50th anniversary of The Day The Music Died. On February 3, 1959, Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and “The Big Bopper” were en route to Fargo, North Dakota when their plane went down in Cerro Gordo, Iowa. Over the years there have been countless movies about the lives of these great individuals. Some of the films include: La Bamba, The Buddy Holly Story, and The Real Buddy Holly Story.

Every year to commemorate The Winter Dance Party Tour, Jay Richardson (the Big Bopper’s son), Ray Anthony, and John Mueller perform as the The Big Bopper, Ritchie Valens, and Buddy Holly, and tour the exact same destinations the trio did (with a few additional dates). The show is highly acclaimed, and endorsed by the families of the fallen stars.

Recently we noted that Britney Spears had joined Twitter. Twitter is an online service that allows you to send messages to friends through a variety of communication protocols such as SMS, chat, email, online, etc. I just found out that now Shaq is on Twitter. In a matter of less than a week, he has garnered over 11,000 followers and has posted 144 updates.

Shaq joins other celebrities such as Britney Spears, Sara Bareilles and Hammer.

Celebrities are always trying to bank of their celebrity status. Once you have any sort of celebrity name to yourself you usually try to start a new clothing line, vitamin water, and/or restaurant. Everyone was shocked with the news of Ricky Martin becoming a father via gestational surrogacy to twin boys. Slowly details have been coming out thanks to TMZ! Apparently, the woman who gave birth to Ricky’s spawns was only in contact with Ricky via email and phone. She was employed through an agency and she has played the role of a surrogate mother one time before. Ricky supplied the 26 year old who has remained nameless was treated by Ricky to a housekeeper and weekly massages. There’s no word on how much money was involved, but we do know that Ricky was present for the birth of his twins in San Diego. As soon as there’s more news to report we will update everyone!
