Some of you may already have one, some of you may already have dropped it, but many of you still don’t know what the fuss is all about.

Here is a closer look at the iPhone when it was announced in January 10, 2007. See the crowd gather around a iPhone encased in a translucent glass encasing as if it was a relic of the Buddha. Big iPhone features included ‘visual voice mail’, touch dialing, speed dialing, regular dialing, and perhaps even rotary dialing. Phil Schiller, of Apple, is heard on the clip saying that the iPhone ‘the most advance phone ever made’ and the ‘the best ipod ever made.’

Here is the Never Been an iPod ad.

Here is the Calamari ad.

Here is a view from the 5th Avenue New York Apple store as people enter the store to buy the iPhone. Listen to the people cheer as if they had accomplished something, other than waiting for a day or two in line to get one.

I was able to head down the Apple store here in Palo Alto before they went on sale, before you ask, no I wasn’t in line to get one. The line extended from the Apple Store on University Ave circling as far back as Lytton Ave (over 1 block). The atmosphere was very festive, many people were sitting in beach chairs and resting comfortably under their parasols. People were well prepared, fully equipped with pizza, water, and other beverages. The people passed the time listening to their iPod or working on their laptops. People were of all ages, but unfortunately the vast majority of them where men. Some people wore black shirts with the iphone logo and on the back of the shirt it said “I was there 6/29/07″, apparently these shirts were distributed by a company not affiliated with Apple. Many news outlets such as TV, radio, newspapers, and bloggers where present to cover the event line.

The Late Show with David Letterman ran parts of Paris Hilton’s post-jail interview and indicated any fallacies with a ding sound. Check out the ding-o-meter fall of the charts. She says, ‘definitely when I have a daughter I have a lot of good advice for her.” I would say she would have some nice advice for her daughter, such if you want to be respected don’t be like mommy.

You might not have known but Jay Leno also has a post-jail interview with Paris. Unlike Larry Queen, Jay has some hard hitting questions such as what is her ethnic background, her jail house nick name, and if her mind ever go blank.

50 Cent is made the fool at the BET Awards when the lyrics stop while he is giving a performance. He walks around the audience for what seems half the song as the song re-cues.

The big winners at this year’s BET were Beyonce for Best Female R&B and Video of the year. Jennifer Hudson also won big as Best New Artist and Best Actress. Beyonce always wins. She should have her own category, Best Beyonce!

Do you ever wonder if you’re really getting the best bargains when you’re shopping? Worry no more; Become is a comparison shopping site featuring any product imaginable. The site is very simple to navigate you can be as vague or specific as you want, and it will retrieve the products that you’re looking for. This site comes highly recommended from a newsmagazine on the KRON show based in San Francisco called, “View from the Bay.” Some consumers avoid comparison shopping sites, because they feel they are biased. According to an article written by Robert Hof for Business Week, he mentions that on comparison shopping sites, you probably aren’t finding the best deals and many of those sites aren’t reputable. Some of the sites he mentions are Shopzilla, Froggle, and Shopping.com. On Become.com, you are linked directly to the store to purchase the item. Some of the sites he refers to in his article function very similar to sites like Amazon. We must learn to be very discerning consumers, learn to purchase directly through store sites (if we’re shopping online), it’s good to contact the store and verify your order. If there are any concerns you can report them immediately to your credit card company or bank if you suspect that you’ve been ripped off. As consumers, it’s wonderful to share these tools, feel free to share your personal your favorite sites that would benefit the average consumer.
